Knowing the Difference between Being Beaten and Losing with Anastasia Bucsis

Anastasia Bucsis is a two-time Olympic speed skater, born and raised in Calgary. In the lead-up to Sochi 2014, Anastasia came out publicly in opposition to Russia's anti-LGBTQ+ laws and competed as the only 'out' athlete from North America. Following her athletic career, Anastasia joined the CBC Sports team where she hosts "Player's Own Voice- The Podcast." She is a host and analyst at CBC, where she hosts on multiple platforms while staying connected to her speed skating roots by providing color commentary on Road to the Olympic Games. Anastasia is a passionate advocate for mental health issues, eradicating homophobia in sport, and telling the stories of Canada's high-performance athletes.

We love Anastasia for her ability to be her authentic self in any situation regardless of who is in the room, her bravery, and her willingness to jump into new opportunities without knowing where she'll land because she trusts herself to figure it out. All of these qualities shine through as she shares her story. She opens up about her struggle with depression, the process she went through to learn to love and respect herself, and the things she learned from sport that she now uses in the business arena.
